Technology Transfer

Technology transfer is the process of moving a technology from its place of origin to a wider distribution of potentially interested parties – typically, by commercializing it or via its adoption by government agencies. It occurs along various axes, including but not limited to transfers from universities to businesses, from large businesses to smaller ones, from government to businesses, and from researchers and inventors to government.
Often it occurs through a concerted effort to share skills, knowledge, technologies, methods of manufacturing, samples of manufacturing, and facilities among governments, universities, entrepreneurs, etc. These collaborative efforts – such as those found among C-TRAC's Technology Marketplace community of users – ensure that scientific and technological developments are accessible to a wide range of people and institutions, allowing the further development of innovative technologies to create new products, processes, applications, materials, or services.
